This model was introduced in 1996 this 5" barrel 1911 model featured a fitted barrel, Gold Cup style trigger, tuned action , flat top slide, relieved ejection port, skeletonized hammer, wide grip safety , high cut trigger guard , beveled magazine well and adjustable sights. It was offered in both matte finish and stainless steel. It was also rumored to be available in 9x23 as well as .45 ACP and my favorite .38 Super. It was also rumored to have been offered as a Combat Target Commander and a Combat Target Officers ACP. Though I have never seen either. I have had this for awhile was going through the safe and thought I would post some pictures..... :D

Essentially a M1991A1-ized Gold Cup. I've never seen one in any caliber but .45, but a 9x23 would be sort of interesting.

Too much oil. send it to me for proper inspection...........and break in :D

Is the finish brushed stainless? Looks nice. Maybe we would breed it with my Combat Elites from the same time period...........

Larry, you know I know you have many, many Colt's, that's why I keep offering to drive all the way to NC and house sit your Colt's while you are on vacation. Just feed the dogs before I show up. I do not want to be the main course that evening!

Well, that dog is bigger than the rat dog we have. Our rat dog is crazy like a percolating crack head, noisy, jumpy little beast. Must get the craziness from living in this house with the people that live here. http://www.oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/bangin01.gif

Could be. The grips, grip screws, hammer, trigger, etc. sort of bother me. Still, it does fall into that period when Colt did some interesting things. I think it would be worth a letter from Colt to see how this serial number left the factory.

The Gold Cup stlyle trigger with with no overtravel screw poked something in the back brain, which is a scarry place to go.

Anyway, a ref to it:

Pricing sure has changed, hasn't it! Kimber had only just started in 1997? hmmm

Dakota1911, My Blue book says it was made in 1997 only. Has been 100% reliable with no issues. Accuracy is more than acceptable.... ;)

Obviously Larry changed out the black wrap around grips for his choice...otherwise the piece is stock. I passed on one in Charlotte 2 years ago in matte blue....it was the same configuration. Here are some examples for sale.......

Ahh - blasted stainless or Parkerized, wraparound Hogues standard. I was going to ask about the grips. Interesting Colt. Wouldn't do for me, because I would want to have a short trigger, Colt medallion grips and an arched housing.
