I just got a PT1911 for Christmas from the girlfriend, and there is a gun show coming up next weekend.
I am going to be looking for some additional magazines, as well as a .22lr conversion.
Can anyone advise what mags are known to work best with the PT1911 as well as any real-life experience with any 22lr conversions? The Ciener (sp?) conversion is made locally, so I am anxious to know if that works with this model.
Thanks much everyone - any info is greatly appreciated!

I have several conversion units, but have not tried them on my Taurus and it won't happen in the next week. Since you can order a conversion unit in most states without FFL you might wait. On Kimber and Colt frames I have tried Kimber, Ceiner, and Marvel .22 conversion units. All have all worked O.K. Kimber was the easiest to put on and take off and Marvel was the most accurate in my view.

Dakota,
Yes - with that in mind, I *WILL* wait! I'll buy some mags , a holster and some ammo at the show instead!
Would you be so kind as to post back here in this thread with your results?

I just bought myself a PT1911 for christmas and I am also wondering about the conversion kits. I love this gun, it cycled through the first 100 rounds without a hitch and it feels great in my hand. If anybody has tried a conversion kit on this gun I would love to hear about it. I am leaning tword the advantage arms or the kimber. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Here are some pics of the Marvel kit on a CQB:

I also hear that Advantage Arms is making a 1911 .22LR conversion kit. I really like my AA 22 kit for my Glock 20...

I just let my Kimber go in a trade today for a new Gold Cup Trophy. I spent a lot of time with it and was not really impressed. It was very fussy with ammo where it would not cycle and I was using top dollar high velocity. Accuracy at best was only was OK if all your looking for is plinker. Given the cost if I was to do it over and I wanted a plinker I would by a low dollar gun and there are a lot out there that will out perform the Kimber. I agree with everyone else it is a snap to get on and off. The sights are great but overkill as far as it's accuracy is concerned. Good workmanship and makes a nice looking piece but a lot better performance can be had for the buck!

I guess not... I don't want to shell out the dough until someone who has the Ceiner tries it and posts that it doesn't have any issues.
