This Christmas has had to be the best one yet. Last May after 22 years in the nuke industry I resigned due to health reasons. After talking it over with the wife we decided I would take the summer off and relax and catch up on some remodeling of the house which we have been doing for the last 3 years. After the summer was over our savings were getting some what low and at my age the market for jobs were looking grim. I went back to college to get a new trade and am still doing the school stuff. Well the xmas holidays started approaching and we decided to set a budget for the daughter so she would have a good Christmas and we the parents would not get for each other this year.

I was feeling a little guilty about not getting the wife nothing so I dug deep in my gun safe and found a couple ruger single actions I have not shot for years. I sold them to a buddy and bought the wife a diamond set she has wanted for some time. I thought at least the wife would have one nice gift on Christmas morning and this would get her goat when she opened it. I have always enjoyed giving more than receiving and could not wait for her to open her gift.

Well Christmas morning the daughter started passing out the gifts and there was one sitting in front of me and I woundered what the heck. It was from Santa and I had no thought of what it might be. We set and watch the daughter unwrap her stuff and then it came time for the wife to unwrap hers. She came over and gave me a big hug and said thank you but said you did not have to do that. Now it was time for me to open mine. I pulled the paper off the box and it was a white outer sleeve with colt printed on one end. After removing the outer sleeve there was a nice blue box with a nice colt emblem on the top. I was shacking as I opened the inner box and out jumped a special combat goverment in 38 super. I was just speachless. :scared: What a great wife I have. I would not trade her for anything. We have only been together for 5 years and each year just gets better. Just to pass on to the rest of the forum members, just remenber when things seem like they are getting a little low there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. I will post pictures and a range report soon. And to eachand every one have a happy holiday and a great new year.

Well, Harley it seems you have the right outlook, I'm the same way, I didn't want anything, but everyone kept asking, and I finally said that I wanted a new jacket from Carhartt, because all my jackets are dirty, worn, or not very presentable to wear to church. I didn't care if I got anything, but they wouldn't have anything to do with gettin me nothing. I just love to watch the kids and my wife get presents. Watching the look on their faces is the best present.
It goes to show you, the right outlook and attitude always pays in the end, and when you get something, you really appreciate what you get. It sounds like the Colt wasn't your real Christmas present.

Congratulations

Oh by the way
:fp:
I know you said there pics to come, but I couldn't help myself.

That is a great ending to your story, it would seem your wife had a good plan for your Christmas. Pictures of your new Colt would be great.
