I have an old series 70 Government model with the standard thumb nail front sight (read very small) and stock rear sight. Does anyone make a set like what's on the series 80(taller & wider front and rear)? I know the tang on the front sight is different on the different series' but, has Colt ever produced ones that will interchange on either series? Older, failing eyes want to know?

Kings, Brownell's, Midway, do a search. Google is YOUR friend. :D
I recommend Kings King-Tappan sights (which I use) or King's Hardballers.
King's 1911 sights (http://www.kingsgunworks.com/newcatalog/page02.html)

Brownells:
Rear sight: 160-118-102 (two dots)
Front sight: 160-111-102 (one dot)
These are Colt original parts, however, the front sight is a wide tenon one. You will have to reduce the tenon width, if you do not want to alter the tenon hole on the slide.
Alternatively, you can get the King's Hardball sights, which come with a narrow tenon front one. I prefer the looks of the Colt rear one though. And of course, you can get the King's front and Colt rear.
