Thanks for sharing! Gotta love that black stainless. I think one would look great in ANY collection.

I agree. Especially mine. So let me know when you're ready to ship it and I'll send you my address. ;)

lol, thanks for the compliments... but I am afraid I simply do not trust shipping companies so I do not see any good way to ship the gun... ;)

Nice SA 1911 pix. Never knew some of those grips existed.

Btw those finger grips are made by pearce, #pg1911-1, at $11.00. I had a tough time finding them and had to special order them from a shop here in richmond, va. I put them on my milspec with the original black plastic grips replaced with sa's double diamond walnut grips. My goal was to maintain a very military look like beefum's gi. Additionally i cleaned out the laser cut "g.i." letters and filled them with black/dark gray epoxy (matched the black parkerize finish), worked the epoxy down to the surrounding raised wood, stained that area slightly lighter than the rest of the grip for contrast and finally finished with minwax antique rubbing oil. The look is exactly what i wanted at minimal cost and a huge amount of fun! my one concern was adding "size" to the grip since my hands are so small. Those rubber additions increased the width about 1/32 per side and maybe 3/16 front to back. I don't even notice the change and i think the molded finger positions improve grip consistency.

I picked mine up off of Cheaperthandirt.com. They were 7 bucks and they are amazing. I loved my grips but wanted finger grooves. So I got both. :)

Hey gang! New here, awesome pics. I've always wanted a 1911 and I'm half heartedly shopping for a pre-1950 model. That purchase won't happen soon unless I can steal one. In the meantime I will most likely be purchasing a Springfield for a shooter. Going to the gun show today. Who knows, I may have a pic to post here myself later.

Keep those pics comin! And thanks.

Good Luck! Hope to see your's soon! There is really no substitute for the 1911! I really think the only thing that is almost as enjoyable to shoot is the CZ-97 .45 but just mentioning that gun is a great way to heat up a forum!

Thanks buddy! :)

I like them enough that those are my third pair. :) Alumagrips now have three levels of aggressive checkering, previously there was only one choice which is now the mildest. This set is the middle level, one step up, and to me they just feel a little wee bit more aggressive. Next set will be the most aggressive checkering. Still no complaints at all. Alumagrips are really as close to perfect as can be as far as the consistency of pattern and fit. Chris Lynch the owner also has consistently great communication as far as order confirmation and estimated arrival times have been spot on.

Here is my new addition to the family - so far everything is just like it came from the factory. I took it the range on Saturday and it shoots like a dream! Now I understand why people love these pistols so much. This is my first 1911 style pistol and it won't be my last.

I bought the Lightweight because it's around 8-9 oz lighter than the steel-framed model & I wanted a full-size pistol. I usually carry a Sig 228 or a Glock 19 as my CCW, but I wanted a more serious round in case I ever actually needed to use it. I don't have any scales, but the SA feels lighter fully loaded than the Sig & Glock do and it conceals just as easily (I'm 6' 3" and 215 lbs). I have had good luck with my M1As from SA and assumed they made a pretty fair pistol too.

My Mil Spec, Valentine, is back, again, from SA Custom Shop. I think this configuration should work much better for me, ergonomically, and I can't seem to get upset about having given up the retro appeal of the wide spur hammer and GI grip safety, in favor of the more contemporary equipment that was necessary to correct POI and to rid me of the hammer bite problem. I do hope you all can still respect me, and Valentine.

Nickel Plated .38 Super

http://tinypic.com/59ye6t

The original stocks were replaced with bonded bone.

I've got my mind set on one of these, myself. I'm *trying* to hold off until a bit more cash is in hand. I've a set of faux ivory "Paladin" etched grips that should look nice on it.

Most important question: does it shoot as good as it looks?

The grips on Seraph's Valentine look like VZ grips (click the link in the links banner above).

Been watching her progression since I "discovered" the wonders of the 1911 a year and a half ago.

Gentlemen,

I was going through this thread again today, and I noticed that several of the pictures are missing.

Out of courtesy to other members, please make sure that the host in which you load your pictures, does not remove them after a while, on does not impose a bandwidth limit on the usage of your pictures. Also, please make sure you do not delete pictures, for which you have posted links in the forums. It is rather wierd to go through a thread as see nothing but this stupid "cupidfish.com" images or a description of a gun and no pictures.

Thanks

Are laser etched Alumagrips done by GunGrips.net (click the sponser link above). They can do just about anything you can think of on these things, including the Iwo Jima flag raising.

Just a plain ol' 1911 A1 (GI .45) for now. Ivorex grips and my IWB holster really make it shine though. Plan to send it in to the custom shop for the "1911-A1 Defense Package". Can't decide if I want to carry it or just drop the money on a chopped "Loaded" model...

(Update 09/15/2005: Sent it into the custom shop today for the "Defense Package" and ambi-safety. Attempted a Wilson Combat extended ambi-safety install myself and failed miserably... 70 bucks down the drain.. If anyone wants to recommend a flat MSH that blends nicely, I'd be very interested. It's the only thing I really can't stand about the pistol..)

(BTW: Grips #928185, Holster #610258 @ midwayusa.com)

My new TRP Operator that my wife got me for my birthday. I've added 3 wilson 47D 8rd mags and picked up a Comp-tac belt-slide holster. The mags are loaded with Win 185JHP Silver-tips but I have to admit that I haven't fired it yet, so I can't comment on it's abilities. I can say, it's a pretty scary and expensive table-top center piece.

This is my SA. Its not real, rather its an airsoft peice. I gathered a lot of info from this site about 1911's and SA. I figured since i finally got pix of the outcome i should post them up.

I built it up myself. It has a V10 slide and barrel but unlike the v10 it has a full length frame with a bobtailed backstrap.
