Didn't want to derail the other thread. Bought my first 9x23 Colt about y2k. Now have a three plus a 38 super if that counts. Waited and waited for someone to develop enough guts to put out another factory gun but it has never happened.
Not alot of information on 9x23 out there but what is I've already seen it. Here is a side by side shot of my 2 factory guns manufactured by Colt and Springfield. The Colt has a standard barrel ramp and the Springer has a Wilson Nowlin. The Springer does not have three top lugs as has been said elsewhere.
Just thought I'd throw this out for general interest since I finally got photobucket.

Nice pistols! I didn't know a 9X23 existed until I started reading the posts on the Forum. Great education! Of course, I'm partial to your Colt...

9X23 pretty much is dead now days. It kinda went the way of .41 action express.....Colt made a few guns they didn't seem to sell well so colt offered them with a .38 super barrel and magazine to get rid of them......Good luck finding ammo and if you do it will be overly expensive.... ;)

It sounds like a great cartridge, but the passages in Kuhnhausen's manuals on the 9x23 make it sound as if you will blow up your gun if you don't have full and equal lug engagement on all three lugs, and I don't see that happening with a factory barrel. 124gr @ well over 1400fps sounds like fun.

Actually 9x23 ammo is easy to get most of the time from Wideners, Wholesale Hunter, Midway, and others online. I think Wideners is 11.99 a box last time I looked. I have an easier time finding 9x23 on line than 10mm. That is white box type loads. Alot of the 10mm stuff is primo fancy hollow point stuff. 9x23 is far from dead as alot of competitors use it as do alot of hardcore 1911 affeciendo's who own one or two for defense.

Here's a link for boxes of Winchester ammo in that caliber, 124 gr. JHP at $18 a box. After reading up on it after it piqued my interest it sounds like a substantial round. Enjoy! http://www.wholesalehunter.net/outdoor_sports/Winchester-Ammo/Winchester-Ammo-Q4304-Centerfire-Handgun.html

Nice pistols! I recently puchased a new in box pre-owned Colt 9x23 from the local gun shop. I wanted a 9mm and settled on this one. Finally got a chance to shoot it with reloads. The first shot in the 10 ring at 25 yards.....wow! The sights are right on with the hotter loads and high with the softer loads. This gun was meant to be shot and I will never part with it. http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q100/huskyme2/colt-9x23-5.jpg
