Hello all, I've been making the rounds and posting about my new PT1911 that my wonderful wife was nice enough to purchase for me for Christmas. $458 + tax = 492 out the door.

First off, the good guys at my favorite shop (Impactguns.com) had nothing but good things to say about this pistol. One of the salesmen went so far as to say that it was the best 1911 for the money on the market. Now to put this into perspective, this shop sells STI's, Nighthawks, Wilsons etc...

The one I got was the second they had gotten in and it only lasted for about four hours till I got there and slapped down some greens. (technically the wife bought it :D )

I immediately detail stripped the gun did a thorough clean and lube. It was filthy, but so were my two SA's and Kimber.

I also replaced the plastic grips with Hogue units that fit perfectly even with the ambi safety.

I was able to take it to the range the next day (no waiting for Christmas) and am pleased to the max! I was shooting at ten yards with Fiocchi, WWB and Blazer brass, all 230 grain. The factory mags functioned without fail through the first 150 rounds and have gone another 150 with no problems as has the pistol.

My best group of the day is pictured and roughly an inch or so at distance I was shooting. The gun is as accurate as any other pistol I've seen or shot. It was also very pleasant to shoot, unlike some other 1911's I've fired. Perhaps they do indeed hand fit these pistols as it truely feels similar to much higher priced weapons. Sights were dead on, finish looks good but does show some highlights on the edges of the slide. Not sure how long it'll last, but it does look to be parkurized.

Bottom line, I intend to purchase another in stainless as soon as I can find one. Best money I've spent on a pistol in a long time.

I've been interested in Hogue grips. Are they the standard ones for all 1911 clones? What's number on the grips?

Thanks ahead of time.

I do not find the photos of your pistol, but earlier posters seem to have viewed them.

Incidentally, welcome to the forum!

Shadow_Grey, here are the grips that I'm using. The have a cutout in the plastic panel on the right side for the ambi safety.

ambidextrous1, I have the same issue on a lot of the boards I visit when using Firefox as my browser. Try these links:

Justice4all,

What about the ones with finger grooves? Have you tried them?

I've had those on my old SA, and I think I remember there being the same notch for the ambi safety so they should fit just fine. My only issue is that they really bulk up the pistol and make it harder to draw from concealed. There was also an issue with my grip on the pistol changing. I've also had the Hogue finger grips on a CZ. They sure feel nice but didn't really help me when shooting.

Well, if I could find an Armscor Medallion in glossy blue, I'd probably own it right now. However, at this point, for the money, I don't think I can surpass the PT1911 for function, fit or features. The stainless ones are looking quite fine at the moment. Now all we gotta do is wait.

I'm going to be ordering a set of nice wood, semi checkered grips for the PT as I think I'll display it when not I'm not at the range with it. It was after all, the nicest gift my wife has gotten me. I'd the move the rubber grips to the stainless unit.
