I've been shopping online looking for a Gold Cup. I've seen them with Elliason sights as well as Bomar type sights. I also saw one with front slide serrations.
My question is do the new ones come with Elliason sights with no front slide serrations as they always have? I hate those front slide serrations with a passion. I also prefer the lower profile Elliason sights. Anybody purchased one lately?

Thank you sir I appreciate the information. My dealer has pretty good prices as well. He sells all his guns for cost plus 10%. I'm fond of blued guns anyway so that's good to know. Heck I'm a traditionalist as far as guns are concerned. I love my Colts and this is one I've never owned. I gave my son one of my Government models so I need (read want) a new Colt to replace it.
Thanks again! :)

Well I can tell you from shooting thousands of rounds through my Gold Cup Trophy from factory ball and defensive JHP to my own loaded and cast 185 and 200gr LSWC she is a good one. I use mine for regular range use, IDPA, carry, and home defense and she has yet to let me down. Mine is the blued one as well with the Elliason sights.
I am with Paul the GCT does not come from Colt with forward cocking serrations and I am not a big fan of them either.
I agree you need a Gold Cup.

I'll add my 2 cents...............you really 'NEED' a Gold Cup..........first one in 45acp, then a 10mm, later a 9mm the maybe an older one in 45 acp...........maybe 38 Super or 38 Midrange. Gold Cups are addictive. ;)

Joni---I agree I need em all--LOL. It may take awhile but where there's a will there's a way:-) I may be making a mistake but I'm really thinking about going with all Colts. That is trading my others. A Champion for a Colt Commander---hum---sounds pretty good actually. besides my two Colts need company :)
The only 1911's I have owned that gave me no problems at all were Colts!

Once you began collecting Gold Cups your checking account will never be the same. Still it is a worth while venture. I have had this problem a number of years now with no sign of a permanent cure.
The GCT is an excellent place to start.

I hear ya. I don't want a cure! Course I've had the 1911 disease since 1974 or so with no sign of it letting up:-)

I have an 80s GCNM that goes to the range every time, while I rotate thru the others.I think when my self imposed ban is lifted a new model is in order.

It's nice to hear that everyone that owns one thinks so highly of them!

Colts = blue...
Also rans = whatever they can put on them (doesn't matter, they're not the Pony)...
Dead
Pssst: I do own several SA as well -- my Colt's like them and they get along without fighting too much...

Hi
The Colts they are making today are made at least as well as any they have made since the 1950's. They are good pistols.

Well, that's a horse of a different color, although you don't sound as though you are a stranger to the concept ;) .
Many thanks to both you and your son, sir, for your service.

Thanks Dogdollar I appreciate it! Yep, convincing the wife I need a new gun is an art practiced for 27 years now. I think she pretty much sees through it by now but she goes along with it:-)
