Hi
UPS has a tracking system. I believe it's called Quantum View or something like that. You can register for it on the net. It's free. One of the nice things it will do is notify you of anything headed for your doorstep even if you do not have a tracking number. Fed Ex has a similar setup.
I think I would be going for a tracking number on any firearm I had bouncing around in shipping though ....

Just got through cleaning the new commander. 50 rds of some independence 230gr fmj, 50rds cci, some speer and pow'rball jhp's. One ftf the third mag of fmj on the last rd. Reloaded the same round, it failed to go into battery(same round). I discarded the suspect round and had no more problems of any kind.
This pistol is amazingly accurate. Sights are dead on. I am very impressed. Just found my new bedside/carry pistol. Got to get a card reader, pics to come. Thanks UPS!

One could sure do a lot worse than a Commander as a carry/bedside gun!

Since you mentioned it, are those custom made holsters that much better than say a Bianchi or a DeSantis, which I use?

Hi
Yes
Better fit (more options), better looking, with most companies better workmanship.
The cost isn't that bad, it's the wait ....

It's definitely the wait...I have an AKJ Concealco IWB that only cost 75.00 in horsehide but I think it took 10 weeks to get it!http://mazeguy.net/sad/worried.gif

To illustrate the difference in fit between the commonly available brands like Bianchi and Galco (Bialcos) and the custom brands-
My pet peeve of "Bialcos" is marking holsters to fit more than one gun. It's common to see theirs marked ".45 Cmdr/Brng HiPwr". They are generally the same size, but are not the same. You see the same with other guns. S&W K-frames and Colt Pythons used to be one- the Python is bigger.
On the other hand, a custom holster is made to fit what it's ordered for. My favorite example is Lou Alessi's holsters for Springfields. Until the last couple few years, Springfield 1911s used a slighlty "blockier" shape for the grip frontstrap and the dust cover. The dust cover difference wouldn't matter to the fit in most holsters, but Alessi actually made different holsters for SAs to get the correct fit. Those are marked "1911 SA".

just found out today that, through a snail mail delay, the seller only received my FFL's copy of his license on Saturday and will ship my ltwt OM tomorrow morning by fedex 2 day service! Obviously, they have no concept of urgency!! :nono:
They just do not realize the trauma this is inducing in me! I could do unspeakable harm to myself or a loved one or do something crazy like buying another Colt while I impatiently wait!!http://mazeguy.net/sad/bawling.gifhttp://mazeguy.net/sad/gloomy.gifhttp://mazeguy.net/sad/fever.gifhttp://mazeguy.net/sad/cryingeyesout.gif
