Good morning folks, I am new to this forum but not to 1911s. Just wanted to know if Taurus has released the stainless steel version of their 1911 yet? If not, anybody know an expected release date? I would like to get one to go along with my two Springfield Armory guns, tahnks JC :)

Afraid it's anybody's guess. They're making good guns but their lack of information is terrible. While waiting for the PT1911 (blue) they kept changing the release date on their web site as well as on the phone. I'd been waiting for a stainless since they were first annouinced at ShotShow 2005 but finally bought the blued model when it came out and was obtainable. Not sorry, it's a great gun. And will probably have the stainless when it does finally appear, but not holding my breath. :)

That is what I was afraid of , no eta on the stainless guns. Thats ok I can wait as long as it takes, besides I have other 1911s to entertain myself with. Thank you for the reply. JC :)

FWIW, The guy at Buckeye Outdoors said , according to the wholesaler rep, *probably* by next spring.

They also posted, almost all of last year, that the 1911 would be available in the "Fourth Quarter" of last year, even whan the 4th. quarter had arrived and passed. Best bet is to wait until one is spotted in the wild. :)

Raveneap, I do believe you are correct I think I will just wait until one is spotted in the wild, that is the best thing I can do, :)

You would think they would time their full page adds of the SS Commander size pistol that have appeared in various gun rags with the actual availability of some pistols in the market.

Timing of actual release vs adsvertisements has never been their strong point.

From the website it looks as though this version is already out, I mean they have pictures and everything just like they do for the blue steel one, I also went to the gun shop and the guy said that they were out, just really hard to find. Taurus has no e-mail but you can try to get a hold of their impossible to get a hold of customer service reps by the number from their website.

They also had all of that posted for the blue model a year before it was actually released.
You can get them at their listed number if you don't mind waiting. Or, leave your number and it's been my experience that they will call you back shortly.
Good luck.

Ladies & Gents thank you for all the replys, I guess all we can do is keep our eyes wide open and just be patient. They will be out in due time. JC ;)

hmmm.... I saw one at the range about two months ago, and as of three weeks ago there was one at Pasco Gun Sports in Dade City, FL - priced at $600, though, which I think is a bit steep.
