Mag binding from trigger bow

I recently put together a pistol to use in USPSA competition. I found that the Chip McCormick mags would not drop free which was a major PITA. I wrestled with a solution. I mic'ed the Colt mag that worked and found that the CMC mags were .005 wider. That should not matter that much. I checked the mag release, and it seemed OK. So I started looking harder and saw that the drag on the mag was from the trigger bow. When I put together the pistol the trigger bow did not bind in the channel. So I thought that everything was OK, but I did not check the internal clearance where the mag fits through it. That is exactly where the mag was binding. I changed the spread on the bow and life is now good.
