I was just wondering if I could convert my future Spartan to a double stack by puchasing the 5"double stack frame kit ? would any further mods be required?

Actually, what you want to do is use the slide of the Spartan on a 2011 frame. And the answer is that yes, you could do that, but why bother? By the time you finish, it would have cost you as much (if not more) than a new pistol.

I Don`t think so, if I am looking at the right Spartan on the STI web site, it is a single stack 1911 with a standard frame. You can`t put a 2011 grip on something that already has a grip as a part of the frame.
Go look through STI`s web site about 2011 style short blocks and frames. You will get a better idea of why you can change grip colors using the same frame.

Yea I wouldnt do it righ away, just wondering if I could have down the road if I wanted to run a dual stack for USPSA, but I think I read the dual stacks only hold like 9 or 10? so I might as well run an single stack extended mag (if you can, still new to the comp. shooting) in the limited class.
I plan on buying a sparten around march or april and getting it hard chromed....can't wait :D
