Please forgive me for asking such trivial questions. Just trying to learn. Anyway, my question is why change recoil springs? I have read where you need to after so many rounds but why else would you change it? I've seen where folks said they changed it from a 16lb to an 18lb and so on. I'm sure it's a performance issue but what do you get from it?

Thanks,
Steve

Some change from a stock 16lb spring to an 18 or higher spring, because they say the gun will feed more reliably. But if one needs a higher spring than a 16lber......it masking a problem that needs to be fixed.

A proper working 1911 will reliably feed with a 12lb spring, and never miss a beat.
