Magazine release pin / spring problem

It seems that the pin and the spring are stuck in the magazine catch, halfway from coming all the way out. In one of the pictures, a replacement is visible... I'd replace it if I could get the spring out!

Picture of the hole it is supposed to occupy... I think there is a little corrosion there.

Well, use a tiny screw driver as a punch to push the magazine catch lock out, then a set of twizzers or pointing pliers to pull the spring out. Clear the inside of the mag catch and test it before putting it into the pistol. Don't forget a drop of oil before final assembly.

If you live in central NJ, just pop over to Sarco and get a new assy. dirt cheap.

Otherwise, you have to rotate the spring until the end is well out of the slot. You might try to bend the end inwards, and then rotate it. Then use or fashion a tiny spring hook, and drag the critter out. I guess that this might be an undocumented feature of an extended release, eh?
