OK....I have a RIA full size .45. Let's say I wanna get a skeletonized trigger for it. When looking for a trigger do I need to find a trigger specifically for an RIA or are they interchangable from Kimbers to Springfeilds to Colts to RIAs and so forth. I'm new to the 1911 owner's group and just trying to learn more and find how how to select parts for my gun.
Thanks,
Steve

Most any trigger for a 1911 should work. Ed Brown, Wilsom, etc.

Yep... They are all the same... If you try to add a beavertail, you will have a hard time finding one that doesn't look funny, but everything else is the same...

Just always be mindful of the fine print: "minor fitting may be required."

Hi
There are a couple of variables on triggers:
1) The length of trigger in front of the bow varies.
2) The bow length and dimensions may vary a little.
3) The dimensions of the trigger may vary a bit.
The length in front of the bow is a buy what you want sort of thing. If you want long, buy long.
The other stuff is fairly quick work with a file.

Thanks for the help. I'm trying to learn as much as I can and as quick as I can. And this seems to be the place to do just that! ;)

A beavertail is just what I'm looking for (hammer bite). Not sure what you mean by funny . I'm new to the 1911 but, I thought RIAs had interchangeable parts. If you have some links or suggestions of beavertails that work on a RIA FS1911, I sure would appreciate it. Thanks!

What I mean, is that the RIA's seem to have a different contour on the back of the pistol... If you look at the Wilson drop in beavertail in the first picture(someone elses gun on this site) and the same Wilson drop in on a colt in the second pictture, you will see a big difference in the way the two match up.... I am still figuring out which one to use on mine, but it looks like anything that is "high ride" like Chip McCormic, Ed Brown, etc will come closer to the RIA profile... Kind of nice in a way since it means less metal for me to have to remove, but makes the drop in ones look a bit odd.....
