Not magnaported but I do own an SA V-10, hwich has 2 rows of 5 holes in the top of the barrell and 2 slots in the slide to vent through, this is a 3.5 inchbarrel. SA at one time also made a V-12 and a V-16 as I understand, but have never seen either one of them, but have seen a few V-10's.

I have some revolvers that were Magnaported. 4", 6", 6.5", 7.5" and 8&3/8".
The porting may help cut down the muzzle rise just a bit but it's not extremely noticable to me.

I have a 44 mag anaconda i bought used that had a package done by mag na port and i didn't notice a difference in recoil like i do the 44 mag carry comp smith or the x frame comps
This was back when they only did 2 ports the quad ports might be better

I have a Colt Commander with a ported barrel. 3 ports of varying sizes in an extended barrel. The felt recoil is noticable, especially with hardball. It makes this aluminum framed pistol more user-friendly with heavy loads.
When I use mid-range loads I can't tell the difference.

ahhhhhh, the debate starts again. Her is my take.
A FULL muzzle brake works on my 7remmag. I can shoot it on the bench with one hand & keep my cheek on the stock. It tightened my groups up from 1" to cloverleafs.
If you hunt with it, you MUST have hearing protection. One shot will do massive damage. I learned the hard way. My ears rang for a week.
Porting a shotgun. I have wasted thousands of dollars and I can tell NO DIFFERENCE
in felt recoil of the many guns I have ported. It just makes cleaning a mess.
Porting a handgun. I have owned 4 ported guns. Glock 45, S&W357 & Taurus 44mag.
Totally useless. Ear shattering noise. Shoot one in low light, and your blinded for several seconds, the same as looking at a Surfire Flashlight.
I guess that could be good in a Lethal Force Scenario. It would blind & deafen the assailent the same way it does you.
There's my 2 cents. I no longer own any ported handguns.

Ah, if you allow me, magna-porting is supposed to reduce muzzle jump. Muzzle jump and recoil are two different things. Recoil is the movement of the pistol to the rear. Movement of the pistol upwards is muzzle rise or muzzle jump. Let's not confuse the two.
With that clear, I hope that whoever is considering a magna-ported pistol (or revolver) will know enough to never shoot it from his hip, or any place near his body.

And .... What about the bullet speed ?
I suppose gases will push the bullet on a shorter distance, since they escape through the ports BEFORE the end of the barrel.
Am I right ???

Only a portion of the gas pressure is released by the ports. Firing one of these in lesser light condition will make quite a display.

Would you say the speed decrease is quite the same than between a 6" and a 4" barrel ?

IMO
Going to depend on the number and size of the ports, and probably to an extent the type of powder used.
Only real way to tell is crono the desired loads before and after.
