Hey guys,
Just put some thin smooth Alumagrips on my Kimber Pro Elite. The grips feel really nice and look fantastic. They are of high quality as well. My hats off to Chris and his customer service is second to none.
I've taken it to the range a couple of times and to me it feels like the recoil is more pronounced than before. I had the standard thickness cocobola grips that came with the gun on there before. Do standard thickness grips and/or the cocobola wood help the recoil? Your experiences are appreciated.
Thanks.

I had thin grips on a Les Baer TRS. I found that I prefer the feel of the normal thickness and changed. I can't say that I really noticed any difference in felt recoil though.

The difference would come from having a different grip now.... I believe that rather than there being more "felt" recoil, you just have to get used to how the pistol sits in your hand....

I like my thin Alumagrips too.
However, be aware that the Alumagrips are very rigid and the grip screws will tend to loosen after normal shooting. I recommend checking/tightening them routinely. Alternatively, many folks put a dab of blue loctite on the grip screws and bushings and that will keep them secure. If you loctite the bushings they will be sacrifical and will get trashed when you remove them but it's no big deal if you're careful and have spares (you'll need thin vise-grips to get the bushings off...be careful).
I have also heard of using a strip of masking tape on the back (frame side) of the grips, so that there is some give when you snug them up and the screws may therefore stay snug...might be worth a try.

I think that in general the thin bushings will be ruined if you remove them. I've found that a number 2 easy-off works well and isn't as tricky as vice-grips; but the bushings get trashed anyway. And it's an excellent idea to keep a couple extra sets of bushings on hand (as well as extra grip screws).
