Switch Barrel Pistol?

Specifically we are talking about a 38 Super Colt and a Kart Easy Fit 9mm barrel.

I have a Kart easy fit barrel that I am considering fitting to my 38 Super as a switch barrel. This would obviously be much cheaper than buying another 38 super to convert. I bought the Super because I wanted a 9mm 1911 and I knew I could convert it, but I like the Super!

Therefore, the question is this; can I fit the Kart barrel (and assuming it is properly fitted) without causing any abnormal wear switching back and forth. Should I make any effort to equalize the number of rounds fired in each caliber?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

If your barrel is properly fitted, it will not be a source of additional wear in your pistol. You have more to worry about with the factory barrel, as most factory 1911 barrels have relatively little engagement, and on a single lug, no less. If this causes peening on the lugs inset in the slide, it can throw off the engagement of the fittend barrel. Remember, 9mm operates at .357 Magnum pressure levels.

Thank You,

Hopefully I can get the 9mm Barrel fitted within the next few weeks.
