I bought a new Dan Wesson Classic Commander Bobtail. Beautiful gun...I just wish it would work.
I have a range report in the Dan Wesson forum, but I thought I might get more eyeballs here.
In a nutshell, the pistol has a failure to feed every 3 to 4 rounds. I've tried Fiocchi, Blazer Brass, and WWB. The Fiocchi had trouble chambering, and CZ reccommended that I try Blazers, WWB, or S&B.
Round count is 200. I still can't get through a magazine without 1-2 stoppages on the feedramp. Feedramp appears smooth.
Factory and Wilson 47D's mags were tried. All had the same problem.
Suggestions?

What you're describing is a failure to go to/return to battery. Could be excessive extractor tension and/or incorrect extractor geometry, and could be a 3-Point Jam.
Do a quick test.
Induce the stoppage during live-fire. Keeping the gun pointed downrange, finger off the trigger...use a length of wood to lightly rap on the muzzle...straight back. If the gun snaps to battery, it's a 3-pointer. If it doesn't, it's probably the extractor.
Hand-cycle a few rounds to get a feel for it...when it does go to battery.
Remove the extractor and repeat. If it feeds and goes to battery more smoothly...there's your bug.
The fix could be as simple as taking a little bend out of the extractor...if it's an internal extractor...or making a few light modifications to it. If it's an external extractor, it's probably the specs/geometry. Hook too deep...Hook contacting the case at the front of the extractor groove...Could be one or several things. hard to call it sometimes without havin' the gun on the bench.

I guess it is probably true.....when you are a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
And conversely, when you do not have a vertical mill, nothing looks like a shallow feedramp.
I've got experience with several DW's. Feedramps were machined very, very shallow (.280" deep), then polished along with the front wall of the mag chute to about .380" deep.
Makes it difficult to properly evaluate the depth of the feedramp.
My money says the rounds that fail to feed never even contact the barrel.
Seek help from a good smith.....or buy some hinky Tripp mags.

Yeh...and when you've only seen one Dan Wesson...ya assume that they're built to spec.
Lub may have...nailed...this one, sho 'nuff. I read back and saw the one where a round stopped on the ramp.
Try the tests described first. it's usually somethin' simple...but not always.
Eliminate the simple first, then look for the other stuff.
