i circled the problem area in red. sorry for the bad pics but they're the best i could do. it looks like metal has been removed from the firing pin hole lip! what could cause this? will Colt fix it under warranty?

It looks like the breechface is not perfectly flat, which is pretty normal. Part of the non-flatness is near the firing pin hole, but is there really metal "missing", or is it just a localized low spot? If the gun works, I wouldn't consider it a problem. If rims are catching on it, or primers are extruding into it and tying up the gun, then Colt will want to take a look at it.

Definitely give Colt a call. Their customer service is top-shelf. Carol Plumadore helped me with a problem and Kathy has help Hunter with lots of questions, but I'm sure anyone you reach can help!

there def. is metal missing, it will snag my finger if i run it over the places. I just got off the phone with Carol at Colt and she wants me to mail it in. Thanks for the responses guys.
