I guess the title pretty much sums it all up. I have two 1911s (Springfield and Dan Wesson) with regular length triggers (long) and I want to replace them with short triggers. I'm kinda eyeing the Greider ones on Brownells cause they seem to be the shortest. My question is this, to replace the trigger, is it pretty much a drop-in piece or will there be fitting required? The last thing I want to do is mess with the fitting of the fire control group so if fitting is required I'll probably find a gunsmith to do it. Thanks.

It depends on your frames. Aftermarket triggers are usually firnished with the finger pad a little too tall. This allows you to file/snand it down until you have a good fit, allowing the trigger to slide without dragging but without vertical "slop." This doesn't affect the fire control group, as the length of the trigger bow is fixed.
However, the length of the new bow could be slightly different from the old trigger, so after replacing the trigger you should run the pistol through a full function check.
