I've finally entered the 45 ACP world with the Taurus PT1911 and LOVE it.
Two weeks old, 800 rounds (300 my own handloads) and one IDPA match and I'm hooked for life!
I like the "straight 8" sights when outdoors but in a dim booth they're hard for me to see.
Has anyone looked into "night sights" for their PT1911?
Are there off the shelf units available that "will fit" the Taurus slide?
What would it cost to have an interchangable replacement slide with nights sights on them?

Thank you,
Steve

I am not aware of any night sites for the PT1911.

I am having a set put on at them moment, trying for the fiber/tritium combo, but just tritium if it won't work out.

Will do! It might be a bit as I am refinishing the gun.

I thought that the slide cut was for Hiene sights only versus other aftermarket sights that required recutting the slide.

Any way - here is a recent email from Heine regarding night sight availability for the PT1911.

We are currently in the process of a production run of the Heinie SlantPro Straight Eight Night Sights for the Taurus PT1911. I expect to have them available for installation and shipping in January if you would like to check back.

Glad to see that Heine is changing their position on supplying night sights. Three weeks ago they e-mailed me that they did not stock, and did not plan to stock any replacement sights for the PT 1911. I guess enough of us contacted them that they "found" a market.

I emailed this to Truglo:

"""Message:
Do you have a TFO that will fit the New Taurus PT1911?

I'd love to have at least a TFO front sight.

I do hope your crew will look into this market. I've read many other
PT1911 owners are searching for a tridium front sight. The first on the
market should do really well I'd guess.
And with your TFO combo everyone should be happy."""""

They replied:

""" Unfortunately we have no application for the Taurus at this time.
We
are continuing to expand our line of handgun sights and will update our
web sight once new models are available. Please check our site
periodically.

Thank you

Oh well, I tried!

Message to Novak:

""""I recently bought my 1st 45ACP and it a Taurus PT1911. It came with Heinie sights but I'd like to change the front to a tridium sight. Do you have one that will fit the dovetail for my Taurus?

Thanks, Steve"""

Novak's reply:

"""Steve, Sorry but not at this time, we may have some made but it will be about 2-3 months.

By the number of "views" of this thread, I'd have thought someone would be making a drop-in front sight for us PT1911 owners to buy. :)
