I have'nt changed an ejector in I dont remember when - been a LONG time. Anyhow, does anyone have tips for me on this process ? The frame is from Colt Officers Model.

Drive the retainer pin from left to right enough to clear the ejector's pin. Clamp the ejector in a small vice and tap the frame's rail with a light, brass mallet, gently. remove the ejector. Insert the new one in the 2 holes...after cleaning them out, and use a punch or back of a drill rod to mark the front pin through the hole (do NOT try to drill that pin with the new ejector installed). Remove the ejector, put it in your little vice and file a notch similar to the old ejector at the marked spot on the new one. Don't overdo it, and a notch just a tad high is better than one a tad low because the high one will pull the ejector down into position whereas the low one will push it upward...not good.

Ditto on robot's directives...especially the part about drilling to cut the notch. Resist that temptation.
I've found that a triangular, Swiss-pattern needle file works well. The angle works to draw the ejector down firmly against the frame, and allows for small adjustments in case the location is off slightly...fine-tuning the fit with a round needle file completes the job. A little care and patience will produce
professional results.
