Ok I have a Springfield 1911A1 and I have some questions.
First I think this has been modified some.
1. It has a barrel that says Wilson 45 ACP on it. Is this the normal barrel?
2. The grips a red wood with hex key screws in them is this the origina grips.
3. The half cock hammer safty does not go half way but rather stops just short of the resting position. Pulling the triger also drops the hammer. Now Im told that the Colt series 80 does this. Is this normal for the Springfield?
4. At the rear of the gun the slide and frame are not exactly flush. But rather the slide sleighty overhangs the frame. I have seem them not flush before but I believe its usually the other way around. Is this OK?
Thanks

1. That is a Wilson Combat barrel, definitely aftermarket and usually of very high quality, unless the fitting was bunged.
2. Sounds like aftermarket stocks and screws, do you like them? Do they look nice?
3. Sounds normal and fine.
4. Possibly due to the aftermarket barrel fitting, but it could also be that the frame and slide machining just simply don't match. A very slight misalignment of the ends of the slide and receiver don't mean all that much, if it is a major misalignment the gun may have some real problems. Most of mine have very slight misalignments.

Ok thats good to hear : ) I thought all 1911 barrels where just a drop in? It function checks just fine?
Well they look real nice. I have found that one side has a crack but its not all the way through and I cannot find the right key to get the darn things off.
No its just sleight and no more than any other auto I have just the opposite direction. I guess Ill have to find a 1911 smith to look at it. I wonder if the after market parts void the warrentee? Is there a warentee?
Thanks

the halfcock on springfields is more of a ledge, the hammer falling when you pull the trigger at halfcock is normal, and the halfcock isn't really halfway it sounds like yours is just about right. Wilson barrels as already stated are good barrels I think probably better than the stock springfield barrel. You sound to be in good shape.
