Does anybody know if GunKote can be removed chemically? If I need to bead blast it if I am going to need a more powerful blast cabinet or use a more abrasive compound and I hate to do that as I want to preserve the roll marks and frame markings nice and sharp.

Thanks
Jim

You probably could remove GunKote with a chemical of some sort, a strong acid should do it, but I would advise sandblasting as a better way of removing this finish.

I did Gunkote as a get-me-by until i finished the gun, and had the money to professionally finish it. I will let either bearcote, or Wilson combat remove the Gunkote before they refinish mine

Guess I'm lazy....

or is that working smart, can't remember

haven't found a chemical that removes it

abrasives do work be gentle and the damage isn't too bad

if you are sending it out to be refinished. let them do it.
