Hello everyone. I'm a reservist currently serving in Afghanistan with an unconventional unit. Being that, we have some M1911s'. Having not fired one in close to 15 years since being back on active duty, I fell in love with the things all over again. I'm not bashing the M9, but I was taught that if it's not broke, don't fix it. Reading postings, history and the review, I emailed my family and have a new GI model Springfield waiting for me when I get home. I also have a pair of WWII era grips to dress her in as well. I guess for me it's more of a history thing than all the doodads and extended this and that components. For something to serve the military for as long as it has, it says alot for Mr. Browning and his design. I look forward to learning from all of you.

Wecome to the forum and I am glad to hear that they gave you a REAL gun to use. JMB designed it near a 100 years ago and it still works and remember the old saying. Don't send a boy (9) out to do a man's (.45) work. And Bears say woof, woof, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, and that means the same thing in doggie,

Hello and welcome!!! I am new to the 1911, less than a year but I have done some research and the 1911 is making a comeback in the private sector as well. If you need to use it......It Better Do The Job!!! May your aim be strait and true and may God be with you always and all ways!!!
