Hello, new to forum and to 1911. Just bought a Kimber Custom II after Christmas. I am looking for a good cartridge for practice. I see around here that some people like the CCI Blazer 230 gr FMJ, but what about Wolf ammunition? It is only $7 for a box of 50. Thanks for your replies.

Welcome to the M-1911 Forum, hawkeye680!
I have two favorite practice rounds that I use interchangeably.
Federal American Eagle 230 grain FMJ
S&B 230 grain FMJ
I buy them from:

and
http://www.natchezss.com/ammo.cfm?contentID=ammoBrandList&ammoRecID=2&CFID=1325223&CFTOKEN=33073895
They're not the cheapest, but they use good quality brass cases and I've found them to be consistent and relatively clean for practice ammo.

I don't reload. I am too old to crawl around the floor to pick up empties. I am also chep and shoot a lot of Wolf, let the other guys sort it out. As Hunter always said "It works for me"

He may not understand what the issues are with "wolf".
It is a steel case coated with laquer or more recently a polymer of some sort. People say that it can cause excessive wear on the gun, mainly the extractor ect, since its steel on steel contact. This is of course opposed to brass which is much softer.
It really is up to you and how much you love your gun.
I wouldnt put Arco gas in a sports car but I am sure some out there still do it.

I don't think the issue is so much the steel on steel thing with the extractor as much as it is the extra friction between the coated steel case and the steel chamber. This puts extra stain on the extractor hook. My cheap practice ammo, at least that which is not my own reloads, is CCI Blazer in the brass case or Winchester USA (Walmart, $19.99 for 100).
