Curiosity got the best of me and I had to find out. I have an electronic scales at home that weighs up to 26 lbs in whatever mode you want from grams, ounces, pounds, pieces, etc. I did a comparison on weights sans grips and grip screws but left the screw bushings. results as follows:
Colt 1918 military (Original) 33.85 oz
Colt 1919 Comm'l (Original) 34.70 oz
Auto Ord (West Hurley) 35.35 oz
Auto Ord slide Dbl Star frame 35.60 oz
Brazilian Army slide/Dbl Star frame 35.90 oz
Springfield GI Stainless 34.75 oz
Bearing in mind these are all manufactured in a variety of countries and over a span of 88 years, I think the consistency is quite remarkable. There is only a difference of 2.05 ounces between lowest to highest. What is even more interesting is that the Springfield is only .05 oz from the 1919 Comm'l.
For whatever reason, I hope this is of interest to others.
