Picked up my new FN HP .40 SFS last Sunday. I have to say that it is one sweet shooter. I got it home field stripped it and gave it a good cleaning with Breakfree and wiped her down before g0ing to the range. I was surprised with how smooth the trigger was after reading about the gritty pull of high powers with the mag safety. I guess the SFS eliminates some of that.
I started off with a quick 20 rounds down range, not really sighting in just getting a feel of the pistol and and loosening it up a bit. Next I set my target at 15 yards and fired my first 5 shot group, I was bit high of center but it grouped at about 4", Mind you I have not been shooting since I left the Army in 1989. I moved out to 25 yards and and was hitting point of aim at about 4-5" groups. After about 200 rounds the trigger was feeling better and had a nice snap to it. I feel very comfortable with this pistol and I know that with more practice I will get my groups much tighter. I really love the way it comes up to point of aim so naturally and the fit in my hand almost feels like it was custom made for me.

I carried a 1911 for 12 years in the Army as a MP loved it and would have no problems buying another but I am glad that I bought the Hi Power first.

I love those Hi-Powers--post pictures! I have two of 'em in 9mm but would like to get a .40 someday. The way they feel in my hand is the reason I bought mine...very comfortable. Sounds like you haven't lost you touch since 1989. Those groupings are better than I can do! Welcome to the Forum!

Nice! And I like the H-D backdrop, too. Strange, but I haven't noticed many HP pistols at the guns shows I've been to recently...and I don't recall seeing any in .40 lately. Seems like they're not as prevalent as they were a few month back. I really like the HPs--they sure feel good and solid to me and fit my hand just right. Don't know anything about the CMMG 911 lower on your AR project, but it looks good! You'll have to keep us posted on your progress in the Non M1911 Firearms Forum.

Congrats on both the Hi Power & the 9/11 receiver. I missed out on the FN marked .40's when they were local at a good price, but still have two Browning marked .40's. These are my favorite .40's.

And I don't see many used Hi Powers for sale around here; bought the last one I saw....

These handle well and feel comforting.

Congrats again.

Hi

Welcome !!

I do not (yet) have a .40 High Power or one with the SFS trigger group. Good to hear that both work well.

I have the .40 SFS. I love it! I'm going to make it a competition gun.

Hi

So what exactly did they do to the trigger to turn it into a SFS?

I worry about adding parts - they can break.

basically, your able to push the hammer foward and it puts it into sort of a double action mode. You can then depress the saftey and it will drop the hammer back into SA fire mode.
