Two siblings from a grand old lady.

After WW II and a distinguished combat career spanning both World Wars, the Government was going to scrap the USS TEXAS BB 35, so the school children of Texas, including my sister and I, donated enough money to buy her and bring her to Texas. Now back up a few years.

On August 13, 1913, Colt's shipped 100 Model Of 1911 U.S.NAVY .45's to the Norfolk Navy yard for equipping the USS TEXAS, BB 35, then under construction. They were serial numbered 43901-44000.

These two Navys' were two of those Colts. Serial numbers 43909 and 43932. They are the ony two examples known to exist from the original shipment. I bought the frame from a gent in New Orleans of 43909 and rebuilt to a correct pistol and refinished it. 43932 is all original, so enjoy!!!

Hey John, your investment in 1911s cost more than my house probably, but please, do keep those pictures (and above all, the history behind the guns) coming. I think I am speaking for all of us here, that we do enjoy them immensely.
