Colt's site doesn't seem to have the weights for the carbon vs. stainless series 70 repros.

Anyone know the weight spec on these 2 versions?

showpro,
That's an interesting question, considering that my perception of the weight difference between the two, has been that the stainless is ever-so-slightly heavier. That opinion is TOTALLY subjective!

Why not give one of the girls at Colt a call, and see what they have to say.

I'll give that a try.

Generally, I'd expect the stainless to be about 3 oz. heavier, which would be, what, 7 or 8% heavier?

Hi

If the weight is a significant issue I would not trust the web site data. I have seen way to many cases where that kind of stuff has been off.

My favorite source for stats on all kinds of guns (although I can't guarantee the accuracy) is New Guns Network
http://www.newguns.net/ .

According to it, the Colt Series 70 reproductions both weigh 36 oz whether it's stainless or carbon.

Speaking of Series 70 Reproductions, that's what my Avatar is--a blue Model O1970A1CS.

Yes, it is pretty much the same between carbon and SS. If weight is an issue then maybe try a Colt Commander LW or Defender.

That is interesting...maybe it's all those extra Series 80 parts on the XSE!
