I have been offered the chance to purchase 1 or possibly 2 Clark Custom Colts, both in .45. One is a pre 70 Series, and the other a 70 Series. The work obviously was done "back in the day" as I would call it. Both pistols are in fine shape.

The 70 Series says "Heavy Slide" on it and has the full length "bar" or sight or whatever on top of the slide. The Pre 70 has the bar stopping at the ejection port. I mainly collect older Colt Gov't Models, and as you can obviously tell by now, I don't know much about Clark other than he did some nice custom work.

I did check out his website, but would like any info any of you might have as to collector value, basic opinions, thoughts, and the like. I have not been informed of the asking price yet so I thought maybe getting some info here would help me have a better idea of the value and collectability.

Thanks

Well, all I can tell you is that the Senior Clark died and they moved the shop. Stuff done by Senior is supposed to be somewhat collectable. I have a Clark Custom Python that I found out is worth twice what I paid for it. It should be very accurate, he usually did the conversions for pin guns, or whatever the police only target stuff was. They should be solid reliable guns, and I don't think Young Clark works on Colts any longer. At least not Pythons.... YMMV, but if priced right they should be good shooters.
