I crowned the barrel of my Ballester-Molina pistol, followed the technique described on this web page. Worked well.

“Barrel crowning made simple.....

Barrel crowning can be achieved simply with an old mouse ball with the rubber sheath removed, and a tube of 89-cent valve grinding compound. Never ever never use a power tool with a screw or anything else on a barrel to crown it, it can be done by hand within 5 to 15 minutes.

1st take the patch and stuff it in the bore, this will keep excess valve compound out.

2nd take the ball and coat it with compound, seat it on the muzzle crown and spin the ball applying downward pressure, when the grinding feeling smoothes out, remove the ball, inspect and repeat if needed.

What you are doing is sharpening the lands and grooves and returning it to true. This will improve the accuracy of the pistol. Always remember when cleaning to use a bore guide to protect the muzzle’s crown.”
