Colt Special Combat

Found a very nice all stainless Colt Special Combat for sale the other day. Looks to be a nice gun to me. The guy is asking $1,000. It comes with 2 mags, an extra set of grips, the box and all that too. I'm personally into the older Colt 1911's, but this piece seems to catch my eye a lot, and I'm constantly looking at it over and over.

So any thoughts out there on this gun? Any of you have one, had one, shot one, etc.? Opinions are greatly wanted.

Welcome to the forum. I have no personal experience with the Special Combat Government but I have heard more than once that she is a fine 1911. Sounds like a deal to me.

I have had my eye on one just like that in the shop near me.... The one I saw was a bit cheaper though... They have it marked at $999..... :D

Lurch, first off welcome to the forum. Secondly, I don't know what a good price would be for a hardchrome Special Combat. If it is a newer one, I believe that they only make them in hard chrome and two tone blue slide and satin nickel frame. The best price I've seen for one is about $1250 up to about $1350. Of course I've seen some on auction sites that are way higher. I never owned one yet, but I have been thinking how nice one of these would be for me to own. If you buy one, post pics and let us know how she shoots!

If it is in good shape that is a good price. I paid about $1300 for mine out the door NIB. It is extremely accurate. Probably should be called Special Target Government or something similar. It is not SS. It is hard chrome. Check the Colt site at: http://www.coltsmfg.com/cmci/pistols.asp
