I have a 1934 Commercial Colt and I want to have it restored back to it's original configuration. I am looking to find the best restorer... is that Mr. Turnbull or should I consider Colt?
Any suggestions? Has anyone had a Colt restored (not just refinished, but total restoration)?
Thanks.

I had a opportunity to examine a restored example that turnbull had done on a 1917 Colt and FWIW I couldn't tell the difference. The only down side is he is expensive.... :)

Total restoration? Colt can't do a 1934, they don't do the carbonia blue M1911 reproductions. I would suggest Bill Adair, I have had 2 pistols restored (not refinished, big difference) and would send him anything I would need done. http://www.restoration-gunsmith.com/
Turnbull is good, heck he's great, but so is Adair and I can afford Adair. ;)

I've got one Colt at Bill Adair's and another at Ron's Gun Shop
http://www.ronsgunshop.com for restoration. Hope to have both back as a Christmas present for myself! The examples I have seen of the work done by both are outstanding!
