I figured I better stop and get some advice or help. I just want to make sure Im not out of sequence on taking the GI apart. Advice would be great!!

If you already have the grip safety off, maybe the sear spring got you into some troubles. Try to wiggle it off, and the press the grip safety in, and move the thumb safety to almost the middle of its travel, while at the same time pulling it off. Next time, read the disassembly instructions in the Home Page.

Like Muscle said, fully cock the hammer. Raise the thumb safety just slightly above its detent (where it sits in the off position). Start pushing it out from the right side. Sometimes you will have to wiggle it to get it out, and I've seen ones that would practically fall out and others that you just want to take a hammer to.

Be careful not to lose the parts that will come flying out of the plunger tube when the thumb safety starts moving away from the frame.

Same thing with the firing pin and firing pin spring if you detail strip the slide. If you get a good launch, it can be awhile before re-entry :butthead: :D

Yeah ... plus the plunger spring is relatively harmless to sheetrock walls and ceilings, but the firing pin can leave a significant dent.

LOL! I'll be sure to watch out for flying projectiles.
