One of my Gold Cups is starting to get battered on the top edge of the dust cover.... It is bad enough, that thereis a lip on the side of the DC... I am assuming that this is related to the looseness of the slide... Digging into the physics chapter of my brain tells me that when the slide returns foreward and stops, there is a transfer of motion that makes it rotate down... Kind of like when you slam on the brakes and the front end dives.....

Am I correct in guessing that tightening the slide should stop the battering... It is all quite loose in both directions...

I will post pictures as soon as I download the 300+ baby pictures on the camera now.... :D

Possibly. My series 80 GC was so loose it rattled when I shook it. I sent it out and had the slide/frame fit together. The gun is nice and tight now shoots as well as expected after a bunch of other things were also done to it.
