I have an opportunity to purchase a Colt Commander1911, series 80, that has been worked on by Soaring Eagle Customs Does anyone know who they are, and any input about the quality of their workmanship.

It's not a name that I recognize. They may be great guys and be very well known, just not to me.

With any custom pistol - buy it for what it is, not for the guy's name.

Take a good look at the pistol. Poor work is amazingly easy to spot when you start looking at how things fit together. Quality of internal parts is a bit more difficult to see. The feel of the pistol should be a help there.

If you can take the pistol out to the range that should tell you everything you would ever want to know.
