$725 would be a good deal on a Gold Cup Trophy in even decent shape. They are in my opinion the finest 1911s on the market today. Mine has become a little thread bare but has been 100% reliable from factory ball, defensive JHP and my own LSWC handloads. Mine is my carry gun/IDPA/regular range pistol/night stand pistol and she has yet to let me down. In my experience you cannot go wrong with any Colt 1911 and the Trophy being at the top of my list.

Hunter is right about the GC. For reference, the new ones I've seen lately are in the $975.00 range. For one in 99% condition, $725.00 is a deal!!

stretch,
Hunter and Hersh are both correct! When I purchased my NRM Commander, last week, the distributor that my gun shop guy made contact with had two Gold Cup Trophys, priced at $980.

It sounds like a good deal! Snatch it up, then post photos and a range report when you get it home. :D

Hi

I'm not sharp enough to figure out if this is a GCT in stainless or in Blue from the serial number - sorry about that.

If it's a Stainless model then that's a good price and I'd grab it in a hurry. It won't hang around long.

If it's the blued version then it's an OK price, but not a great one. I'd still buy it, but I seem to have this Colt disease ...

The GCT in either flavor is a very nice pistol. I love mine in stainless and have had no problems with it at all. The only thing I might do with it is get another one in blue ...(it's a disease ...).

I probably would be figuring out a way to get it at 725.00.....one doesnt see hardly any used ones much less for 725 in 99%. Or you could drop another hundred and get a new one http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/manufacturers_id/1/products_id/36031 either way, it's a great 1911.

I am not really sure if that one is a blue one or a SS one either. I picked a SS one up a few gun show ago and it is the nicest full size 1911 I have. The one I got was a custom shop one, and has THE nicest trigger action I have ever seen on a 1911. I was not really fond of the job they did on the extended beaver tail, as they did not match the finish of the rest of the frame. Looks like a Wilson drop in to me. But it is very accurate and reliable. Has bright SS flats and mostly matte on the edges of the frame. Still though, I am very happy with it and would recommend them highly.

My crummy picture does not do it any justice.

The grips are not Colt Factory anymore... hehehe

Grips are one thing I change almost immediately on my 1911's.
Nice gun, nice grips! Congrats on the find!

I saw numerous almost new, some in the original box, Gold Cup 70 series Colts today at the gun show. Most of these were in the $1,000 to $1,200 range. That said, $725 sounds pretty good. FlameRed, that's a nice pistol!

Good price on a 99% Colt.

Hi

Last time I was at Cabela's the Stainless GCT's were about $970 and the blued ones were around $820 or so.
