This is my second GI in 2 months,Ive got the stainless also. The guns beautiful, finish is great,I put the double diamond grips from my ss on it and swapped the US grips on the ss.I did minor polishing on the feedramp and the breechface because ive had good luck with every gun i took time to polish a bit.The only change ill make is a wolff 18.5 recoil spring,Again ive had good luck with them also! The parts fitting is superb, the safetys not as tight as my ss but thats good, the ss was almost too tight. The slides nice and tight, tighter than the ss.Was easier to reassemble than the ss.Im very pleased with both of them and would recommend them to anyone that wants a top rate 1911 cheap! Both will be shot extensively, and loved.

I've got a green one on layaway- can't wait to get it. The frame/slide fit is just as you describe. What do you estimate your trigger pull to be? Mine felt to be about 5 1/2 lbs. & crisp! :)

Picked up my GI 5 inch Parkerized just last week. Only put about 200 rounds through it so far [man wish this rain would let up]. Love it!! Looking forward to putting many more through it.

Be careful and keep the guns separated in the safe. I started out like that and my 1911's started reproducing. Now I have a family if 1911a1's:)

You are lucky, mine seem to either be of the same sex, or just incapable of reproduction. I've jept them sleeping the one next to the other for so many years now, and still nothing. I've lost hope!

Have you considered adoption? :D 1911a1's are addictive.

Yes, I have, unfortunatelly, there are some obstacles, in the form of ... laws.
I am allowed only two centerfire pistols, so my hopes are slim.
That's why I was hoping that the two of them could do something, without the local authorities know it. Didn't happen though. Do you think Outers Tri-lube acts as a birth control medicine? (is contraceptive, the right term?).

What about concealed carry, John? Is that permissable in Greece?

The concept exists, but it's not like in US.
You have to keep in mind, that in Greece, we do not have something like the 2nd Amendment. So CCW is not open for everyone to apply and get.
According to the law, you have to have specific reasons to get it, and that means that either you carry large sums of money on a regular basis, or that you are a terrorist target of some sort. Oh yes, if you have a politician friend, then you can also have it.
Since I do not fall in any of the above categories, I do not have one, all I have is a sporting shooter license. According to that, I have to do a certain number of official matches per year, if I want to keep my license. Last time I hadn't and the police took away my license and my pistols. Luckily, a small change in the law, allowed me to take them back, so now I make sure I make at least 10-12 matches every year (the min. is 8).
If you have more questions about guns in Greece etc., you may visit the following site:

This is a very old page of mine, created in 1998, but it's still accurate.

John,
What does the law say about multi-caliber guns (like Peters-Stahl)?

John,
What does the law say about multi-caliber guns (like Peters-Stahl)?
Each top end is considered a different gun, so if you have a .22LR conversion for your 1911, it is like owing another .22 LR pistol. That makes sense, but there are other things which do not. Like for example, why limit my guns to two? If I had four, would I be of more danger to the society, than I am now, with one .45 and one 9mm Para?
Can't argue with the law makers though, if they had brains, they wouldn't be making laws.

That's wild, John...In the U.S. only the frame or receiver is considered to be
a gun. Everything else is an accessory, including the barrel...no matter the
caliber. .22 conversion kits are sold without paperwork, even across state lines...and deliverable through the mail.
Of course, this is all subject to change at whim if some of the politicos
get their way...I've even heard rumblings of serializing all parts, which would
be nearly impossible for some small parts...which would put a pistol with a worn spring or broken strut pin out of the game. Making a pin or spring
may be defined as "Illegal Manufacture" at that point.
What a world!
Cheers!

From what Tuner says it may be time for the rest of us to stock up on 1911 parts. Anyway it would be a good excuse! :)

readyfire, All...
How's that Springer Park finish holding up? My first was a ss Mil-Spec, my next one (coming) is a Mil-Spec park finish... wanted a GI45 in OD Green, too, but, allocated/not available.
I'm going to do some massive gun oil treatment on my park one... just curious how you're doing on that one. Appreciate any input, ready.
Y'all all take care and be safe.
Mick
