I am having some issues with consistant ejections and have been recommended to use an Aftec extractor . I used the search but most responces dealt with external extractors however I will be using in a 1911 style pistol, with an internal one .
What are your experiences with this part, good or bad ? I would like a bit of info before i shell out over $100 bucks ( I'm in Canada so figure conversion rate and duty)
Any info is greatly appreciated !!!!

An ingenious (and expensive) solution to a non-existent problem, IMO, designed and intended for those who don't know how to correctly fit and adjust a standard extractor..and don;t care to take the time to learn.
I've seen them fail to function as intended, too...so it's not a magic sword
that "Corrects the Weak Link/Design Flaw" in the 1911.

Wonderful Mister 1911 Tuner!
I was thinking about it.. to buy a normal new one or this "magic sword".. but if it's not so magic.. Big thank for saving my money!!!
Best regards,

I have one in a small plastic bag, that NHC send me before the Talon comes. I think that they said that for 100% reliability and since I live in Greece and I can return my pistol to them if it has problems, they had installed an Aftec in it and send me a spare (my request).
But overall, I have to agree with Johnny. There is nothing secret behind the standard extractor and this design has been working properly in M1911s since .... 1911. It can't be that bad.

I have one in my 38 super comp open pistol. My pistol started our as 38 super, When I changed it to a 38 Super Comp, I needed a longer hook on the extractor, Got a new version AFTEC, Has run ever since. All my other 1911's have a standard EGW extractor. My @ Pennys!!! And Yes Tuner, My "Roony Gun" :lm:
That still Kills me!!!! :D

Where is the best info on how to adjust an extractor? Right here of course. Check the Technical Issues forum for an article on this subject. Can't miss it. Can't go wrong with it.

I will tell you one thing! They are NOT a drop in!! They need some fitting on the firing pin stop, It has to be cut on 45 deg angle, So the extractor can move. This is a common mistake people make. The AFTEC is designed to move, The whole thing.

I have never used this tool , perhaps some of the members here have and can comment on how well it works , as it might be usefull if you are having extractor tension problems .

Might be a little cheaper and more accurate. Haven't used one but looked feasible.

Any experience anyone?

Hi
They work ok. They are not something you *have* to have.
Some people can cut a 90 degree angle on a piece of bar stock freehand. If you are one of those people this is a tool that will make you laugh ...
I'm not one of those people, and yes this is a tool I have tried.
