Magwell/Frame Cutouts: 1911s

How many versions were there of the magwell/grip/frame cutouts? My Colt 1911, mid- to late-1918 manufacture, has pointed tangs, bottom and top; I know in initial production for WWI these were fully machined with no points; and I have somewhere seen a photo of an upside-down heart only. One of our very knowledgeable members here, says that my 1911 is the "upside-down heart" version; but, seems I've seen later ones, that were even more minimal.
