Can a 70 series slide be installed on a S&W frame?

I`m thinking about getting an extra slide for a caliber conversion. Since - to the best of my knowledge - S&W do not sell 1911 slides separately, I would like to ask the experts here:
What would be my best bet?

Since the SW 1911 has a firing pin safety lever you may need to adress this in the new slide. Have you called SW parts dept about an extra slide?
