I have a Commander project I have been working on for a quite along time. The gun is 98% complete. On the rear it has a Yost/Novak tritium single dot sight. On the front it has a .330x65 Novak pinned front dovetail. The front sight is a .200x.125 block blank. Took the gun out in the back yard last week and shot it. Did the math and concluded I need a .150 tall front sight for 6 oclock aim at 15 yards. I would like to blend the dovetail to the slide radius and drill the front end for a tritium insert. I'd then like to mill about a 60 degree rake on it. What size hole and how deep do I need to drill it for the tritium insert. Also what is typical angle for the rake on the front of the sight?

First thing you would need to do is find someone that will sell you just the insert.... It is prety hard to do.... After you find one, ask the supplier what size hole they suggest....

Find the sight you want, have it fit like you want it to be then send it over to Trijicon or Meprolight for an insert.
