Can anyone tell me where I can find parts for a llama 38 super? My Llama is currently working 100%. I'm more interested in getting parts and giving it a little TLC... recoil spring etc... I hear I'm out of luck?? Are there any other 1911 parts that are interchangeble with this pistol? Any help is appreciated.

Maybe someone that knows will answer...I don't know! I've been thinking about getting a .38 Super Llama.

How do you like yours...any negative issues regarding reliability with JHP's or anything else?

I just picked it up while on vacation in the Dominican Republic. It belonged to a Military Major, friend of mine. So its been Broken in. I did not get a chance to fire it much, but I can tell you that it's sweet. I guess the down side is getting parts for it. I also own a CZ-75 Compact.... I guess i like the Llama better... feels better :-)

A 38 Super Llama is my wish list also.

Wolff’s web page lists a 14 pound recoil spring as a factory rating for 1911 38 Supers , and 16 pound for a Commander.
http://www.gunsprings.com/SemiAuto/ColtNF.html#1911Recoil

These springs will most likely work fine in a Llama 38 Super or at least you will have a starting point.

Your 38 Super is built on the Llama large frame, the same as 45 Auto, check out the Llama Forum Sticky for 1911 parts compatibility.

These pictures do not do my Llama justice. Taken with a Camera phone... sorry :-)

The color of the pistol is a deep glossy blued color, almost looks pearlized... All original parts.
The entire gun is in near perfect condition, just a little rust on the slide above the grip on the grooved area, and some normal wear on the grips.

Was looking at getting new grips and came across these black pearlized ones... any comments welcomed...

Still looking for nice wood replacements in a Rosewood color.

Very nice Llama, I would estimate your pistol was made sometime in the 1970s, vent rib, and internal extractor.
By the trigger guard there is a number that indicates the year of proof, for example S1 equals 1974.
If you want to see what year your pistol was made check out this link

Some good links to grip makers in this thread.

Also, 1911 magazines for 38 Super should interchange with your Llama

I will be posting high quality pics. As the ones above are not so great.

I found the CLIP for this pistol. Original Llama Super 38 from Numrich Gun Parts Corporation. www.e-gunparts.com. But this is all they have. I plan on ordering the parts listed in the Sticky to see how that works with my pistol. I will post the results.

You are more than welcome Sir! The only Llama I have is a 9mm Parabellum that I acquired from a fellow forum member and neighbor. It seems to function fine. I like the .38 Super cartridge and have an RIA one...might have to get a Llama in Super! :p

OK Forum Members.... I think I found a place that carries parts for my Llama 38 Super!!!!
I want to put a list together of parts that I should change out to new ones if I want to overhaul my pistol. It's working fine, but want to have these parts on hand since they are hard to come by. PLEASE HELP!!

Thanks

A couple of parts I would get to have on hand.

Magazine Catch, a regular 1911 catch is too small for a Llama and an extractor.

Llama used a couple of styles of internal extractors. One is a Colt style extractor held by the firing pin plate and the other internal style held by a pin.

There are other parts, that would be useful to have but these two come mind immediately.

I have posted a place that still has Llama parts in the post about magazines for a Mini Max, entered by Raven. Check there for name, numbers, other info.

As for spare/extra magazines for your Llama in 38 Super....just find one or two that fit the Colt. They'll work.
