i am just wondering if they made an original 1911's with the 1911A1's finger grooves around the trigger on them? i dont think they did, jsut wondering because i saw a pistol that could have been a 1911, but had the 1911A1's grooves. i mean it had the flat main spring housing no hump on it, the short beavertail not the A1's extended and it had the 1911's long trigger not the A1's short one. I would let it go as a 1911, but i can't because of those A1 finger groove's. is it possible that its an A1 dressed up as a 1911 or just a gunsmith custom job?? thanks

Or a parts gun, most probably.

thanks thats what i thought. i saw it in a movie last night and i spent a good hour on it using books and pausing and playing the the dvd player in slow motion, but after the hour and the wifes repeated phases of "get a life" "your insane" and "why does it matter?" I finally had to give it up and ask you guys!!! some women may never understand!!! sigh =)

If it was in a movie, it might not have been a real gun at all. It might have been a blank-firing replica:
