What is your favorite 200 grain SWC for the 45 ACP? WSL powder will be used in the reload.
Accuracy is the top item.
Thanks,
Gary

You don't say whether you're looking for hard cast or jacketed. But I've had a lot of luck with the Oregon Trail (http://www.laser-cast.com/) Laser-Cast 200 gr., LSWC. It's looks to be an H&G 68 shape. I use it over Universal Clays at about 900 fps. It's been very accurate and leading has not been a problem. I've probably gone through 40,000+ of them through a number of guns.

Shape is HG 68. I have a friend who has loaded Western Sierra for years and is no longer able to get these bullets. Apparently, Western Sierra has environmental problems in Nevada and is not able to manufacturer bullets. They may be out of business.

Penn in match grade or Oregon Trail...for general plinking, Penn in target grade, Kead's, Mastercast, Wyoming Bullet - all hardcast.
For swaged, Star which are all match grade. Haven't tried Zero but heard good things about them.

Thanks for the info. I gave him a new set of Dillon Dies today for his reloads.

H&G #68 is the best cast SWC I have found for the 1911. I have never found a plated or jacketed SWC that would function reliably in the 1911. I use nothing but RN plated and jacketed.

I just got in a load (2000) of Rainier Bullets 45 Caliber (451 Diameter) 200 Grain Plated Flat Nose Box of 2000 Free Freight
from Midway (free shipping sealed the deal--they finally figured out how to send them by USPS in the $8.50 any weight box-I forget the name but i use it as well).
Not SWC, so I am hoping I can get them to feed. I have had (as you know) similar problems to what Gammon has had with plated SWC.

Barry's 200 SWC and 4.5 grains of Titegroup. Federal 150 or 150 Match primers. Mixed (read free) range brass.

Here's a copper jacketed semi-wadcutter that I get at Space Coast Bullets. They are as accurate as the lead. The only trouble is they are expensive compared to lead. They are both 200gr SWC.

I am using the Rainier 200 GR RN and find that they work as well as any plated bullets I have tried. The RN profile feeds reliably and they are fairly accurate, but not quite as good as hard cast lead. Out to 25 yds. you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between these bullets and jacketed.

These that I got (Gammon) are not the RN, they are mid way between SWC and RN. They have a flat nose, but do not have the semi shoulder. Sort like a RN with a flat face.
I am going to load up about 50 and try them this friday.

I have used those also with very reliable feeding. I went to RN to get the best possible feeding reliability. I'm not sure it was necessary.
