I am thinking about mixing it up a bit, and maybe getting a .40 S&W chambered 1911. My question is which type of 40 S&W round is rougher on 1911 slides and frames? The 1911's in question will be government or commander/ish length barreled, all steel pistols.

The 180 gr. standard velocity loadings?

Or the 155gr. high velocity loadings?

Am I correct to presume that the 165gr. fodder will fall someplace in between?

Thanks,

So long as they don't exceed maximum pressure, neither of the three listed rounds should be an harder on the slide or frame.
