Hi,
I recently acquired a clean example of a WW1 era 1911. Looks like the previous owner or his father filed off the serial number and other identifiction. It still has the patent information.
About half of the original blue remains and the metal is smooth. The bore is nice. The double diamond grips have a small 3/16 split on the lower end.
Am in a quandry whether to have this piece professionally restored or just leave it as is.
Would like some opinion as to whether or not the cost of restoration would exceed the value of the gun. I have $200.00 invested in it.
Regards,
Jim
