I have obtained a colt 1911a1 from 1944 and am having problems getting a quote on its price.i will add that i obtained this pistol while in iraq and that may add to some of the confusion. it is in fair shape with a small amount of discoloration. any ideas????

The value is going to depend upon the overall condition of the gun and the originality of all of its parts. A mismatched gun is worth less that one that has its original parts. Refinishing also diminishes value. Without seeing the gun or at least pictures, it gets real difficult to determine a value.

well i did a little research on the markings and found some info.. it was made in mid 1944,it was sent to aniston army depo and was discharged in 71, on the count of the support of iraq in the late 70's early 80's. now recoverd and brought home. it is all the same weapon and has all original parts with no modifcations. if any of that will help??? i also have an offer from one individual whom is willing to pay 900$ without seeing it, is that a good deal?

All original Colt 1911-A1 in excellent condition is certainly worth $900, maybe even $1000. One that has virtually no wear on the finish would bring around $1200.
